Peru 2026
From Wangaratta to Peru – A Journey of Learning, Culture and Connection
This week a group of twenty-four students and four staff from Wangaratta High School will fly out to Peru for the ‘experience of a lifetime’ with the purpose of, not just visiting ‘sites’ such as the ‘wonder of the world’ Machu Picchu and the Amazon jungle, but also to work alongside local Peruvians in a number of different projects including the construction of two houses in the earthquake-affected coastal zone of Chincha, three hours south of the capital, Lima.
The 15-day trip will include Lima, Cusco, Pisac, Urubamba, Ollantaytambo, Machu Picchu in the Andes, Puerto Maldonado in the Amazon jungle as well as Paracas and Chincha on the coast. The students will kayak across an Andean lake, cycle across the ‘top of the Andes’, venture deep into the Amazon jungle and see amazing wildlife (as well as catching a few piranhas).
Watch this space for news of their adventures and life-changing experiences.
