Breakfast comments – Tuesday am

TUESDAY 30 June

Anonymous – What an amazing day we had yesterday!  I loved the visit to the Amazon Shelter…to see the wild animals was incredible…but sad to think that humans can be so mean.  I would love to work as a volunteer at a place like that in the future.  I also loved the chance to swim in the pool again….it is so refreshing especially when it is so hot during the day…walking back from the Amazon Shelter.

In the afternoon we went to the Puerto Maldonado market and the plaza.  Harry bougth me an Acai ice-cream…it was the most incredible flavour I have EVER experienced….wow!

The campfire at night was also very cool and I got a chance to talk with some of the girls. They are not as weird as I thought they were and we had so much fun.  Harry made us sing which was a bit embarrassing but everyone cheered so it can’t have been that bad!  Gus and Noah and Luka were incredible on the guitar….it was a very chilled night….in the jungle…. Sometimes I have to pinch myself!

Rosie – Being in Peru with my school has been one of the most incredible experiences of my life. Everyday has brought something new, from exploring ancient history and learning local traditions to seeing breathtaking landscapes. It has been an amazing experience; a culture so different from my own. One of the highlights from the trip was learning about Peruvian culture. We explored ancient sites like Machu Picchu, tasted delicious local food, and discovered traditions that go back for many generations. Another unforgettable part of the trip was seeing Peru’s amazing wildlife. We spotted Alpacas and llamas in mountains, colourful Macaws soaring by and even a whole family of Howler Monkeys! Peru is home to such an incredible variety of wildlife, and it is such a privilege to have experienced it with my friends.

Mia – Peru has been a dream. If you were to ask me to visualize the things I would be experiencing, I would be at a total loss. If I had any expectations, they would be completely surpassed from the moment I arrived. I’ve enjoyed connecting with people on this trip and also from the communities that we have visited/stayed at. My favourite moments were from dancing with the community in Ccorccor and the Inferno community, celebrating my birthday (Though, I didn’t realise that I was homesick until my family sent me a birthday video, plus everyone singing happy birthday), as well as these last few nights in the jungle. I’ve really enjoyed the solitude of the night solo in the jungle, with the song ‘Twin fantasy (those boys)’ by Car Seat Headrest playing through my head as I quietened down and listened to the sounds around me. (Warning about the song though, it’s too good so it might change your life when you listen to it.) Anyways, this whole trip has been an unforgettable experience and I have LOVED every moment of it.

Andrew – Harry’s resort is amazing. The rooms, restaurant and food are great. There is also a great pool.

Thomas – Peru has been one of the best places I’ve been to! The culture is amazing, so cool to live with a family who doesn’t have much like us to live with.

The places we stayed at has been some really great places. My top 3 favourite things are.

  1. Dancing with the community we stayed with.
  2. Macchu Piccu with the best ruins ever.
  3. Amazon jungle, some of the best hostels & the activities were the best. especially the sunrise on the tower was a big highlight.

Another highlight was when my group leader put some aussie music on our bus trip to keep the vibes going.
