Privacy Policy –  AI Curriculum and Lesson Planning App

1. Operator and Developer

This application (“the app”) is operated by Wangaratta High School. The Principal, Dave Armstrong, is the developer of the app. Wangaratta High School, through the Principal, controls access to the data generated and collected through the app.

2. Purpose and Use

The app is provided to support staff in developing curriculum and lesson planning materials. It must be used strictly in alignment with the Victorian Department of Education’s Generative AI policy.

It is absolutely critical that no student or staff names are ever entered into any of the prompt boxes. This safeguard protects the privacy of individuals and ensures compliance with Department policy.

3. Data Collected

The app collects minimal information for monitoring and support purposes, specifically:

  • Usernames and email addresses of authorised users: These are collected to monitor usage and to provide user support.

No other personal identifiers are collected by Wangaratta High School.

4. Data Processing and Storage

The app is powered by Google Gemini. Google states that:

  • Users have control over their data.
  • Customer data is not used for training or fine-tuning Gemini models without explicit permission.

Wangaratta High School does not provide such permission and does not share collected usernames, email addresses, or prompts with third parties outside the requirements of the Department of Education.

5. Data Security and Access

Access to collected data is controlled by Wangaratta High School. Only authorised staff, under the direction of the Principal, may access this information for monitoring, troubleshooting, and support.

6. User Responsibilities

By using the app, you agree to:

  • Ensure no student or staff names are entered into any prompt boxes.
  • Use the app only for educational purposes consistent with Department of Education Generative AI policy.
