Wangaratta High School offers lots of opportunities for students to involve themselves in a wide variety of leadership roles.

School Prefects

Prefects are elected each year from students in Years 11 and 12. They are expected to be role models for the whole school and assume leadership positions throughout the year. They assist with the organisation and running of social activities, sporting competitions and year level committees. Prefects run special assemblies including the Anzac Day Service and assemblies that acknowledge student achievement. They form a valuable link between the student body and the School Council of the school. Students should feel free to approach any Prefect with concerns or issues they feel are important.

Year level committees

Each mentor group elects a representative who represent their mentor at regular meetings. Any matters of concern can be raised so that the Prefects assigned to the level committee can report the matters at Prefect meetings. Year Level Committees also assist with the organisation of social activities and some assist with social service and fundraising.

Student Representative Council (SRC)

Each year level at the school is represented by students on the Student Representative Council (SRC).  Student elected onto the School’s SRC meet regularly throughout the year providing leadership on behalf of their peers on issues and topics relevant to students at the School.
